About Kristeen Rocha, LICSW

Hi, my name is Kristeen Rocha, LICSW and I am the Co-founder of NEWC.  Taking the first step in seeking help can be scary and overwhelming. It can be difficult to decide which approach is right for you and your family. I have worked with children and families in a variety of settings with a variety of needs and have a specialty in developmental disabilities.  I believe in meeting children and parents at their place of struggle and incorporating physical wellness as well as emotional wellness to maximize communication.  This will ultimately lead to more fulfilling interactions within a family.

I have extensive experience with children on the Autism Spectrum, as well as coaching parents as they navigate the world with a child with special needs.  I approach all my interactions from a developmental standpoint.  I utilize principles from the Floor time method in treatment with children and adults with and without special needs. I work with individuals to regulate themselves in the face of stress so they are better able to problem-solve and interact with purpose.  This allows one to focus on how to gain insight into emotions and behavior to make the changes they wish to see.  I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, visual organizing, empathetic parenting support, solution-focused therapy, and diagramming in my work with children and families.

In treatment, we will work to focus on your objectives and develop an attainable plan to get where you want to be.
